Information Systems and Architecture

Information Systems and Architecture (ISA) is responsible for the supporting business owners in the technical aspects of the University’s corporate systems. Its prime responsibility is to work with divisional and faculty corporate application owners to maximise the efficiency and effectiveness of the University’s information systems.

Its functions include:

  • Installation support for the implementation and upgrade of corporate systems;

  • Integration support for corporate systems;

  • Systems analysis services for corporate systems;

  • Development and maintenance of corporate web applications;

  • Web support for the University;

  • Identification of data integrity issues with corporate data and liaising with application owners on resolving them;

  • Advice to potential corporate application owners on the selection and provision of packages to meet corporate information management;

The services which the Unit supported are listed in the ITR Services Catalogue.

ISA comprises two sections: Corporate Application Services and Web Services.

Corporate Application Services

Corporate Application Services are responsible for the installation, upgrade, and integration of corporate applications as defined in terms of the ITR Services Catalogue.This also includes providing resources to corporate application owners for report writing development.

Web Services

Web Services are responsible for the development and maintenance of JCU’s corporate website.This includes providing web programming support for corporate web applications.The section is also provides policy guidance for the University’s web standards.All of these services are defined in the ITR Services Catalogue.

ISA Projects

ISA staff are regularly seconded to ICT projects across the University to provide technical support such as: system analysis, software support, system integration, report development, information architecture design, database design and application design.
